Dauphin Bible Camp is now looking for an Assistant Director/Site Manager.

This position is 3/4 time position with the possibility of full time with the right applicant. Duties are outlined in the job description below. The ideal applicant will have Christian camping experience with an understanding of maintenance and a heart for the ministry of summer camp. Although this position looks after the maintenance side of camp it will not be limited to maintenance, but will also be expected to help out in other areas of camp.

It was noted today two spelling errors on our brochure. Both errors create confusion around the camp dates for Special Needs and the first Young Campers.

Please note that Special Needs Camp is not in July, it is on June 13-18th and the first Young Campers is on June 30-July 2 (July was misspelled).

At Dauphin Bible Camp we have many projects that are constantly on the go.  We also have many dreams that we are striving towards.  These dreams can be met not only in a financial way but also with donations of goods and services.  If you feel that you, or someone you know, are able to meet these needs or if you would like to know more about how your donations will be used please feel free to contact us.

It is always exciting to get the next summers brochures in. Right now we are busy getting them ready to be moved out to homes, churches and businesses across Canada.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone at the Dauphin Bible Camp. I want to thank you for your prayer and support.
There have been so many people who have helped out over the last six months with everything from lending tractors (many times) to stuffing envelopes. We are very thankful for everyone.  
Sitting here watching the snow fall, again, it is hard to remember everything that has taken place, but I will try not to leave anything out.

Thoughts from the summer.  
This past summer we saw 703 campers attend our summer programs, which is awesome. We are so thankful for all the volunteers that made the summer so awesome for all these children.
We tried out some new camps this summer. The Kiddie camp, for ages 0-6 with their parents, and Golf Camp were a great success and we have begun working on expanding them this next year. Our Camp Diakonos (a discipleship program), although it is a great idea, did not take off. It is something that we want to keep on the back burner, but it is also a program that needs the input of participants from youth leaders to make it successful.
An item that we put a lot of time into this summer was starting to reconnect with past staff, campers and supporters. This is not an easy task at all. Step one in this process was to establish a base from which to launch and that base is our website.  We added a social network and a better menu system so you can find the information you need quicker and we can respond more efficiently.

New Building Thoughts.
It was a very exciting day to see the cement pump truck drive up and a constant stream of cement trucks provide 122 yards of cement.
It has been interesting to watch the process of building the forms, forming the rebar and laying in the in-floor heating.  The next step is to start building the walls and going up! We do not have a time frame yet on when that will begin.

Housing Project Update.
First I want to thank everyone who has been a part of the housing project. Although the project itself has officially only been four months the visioning started two years ago. We have had so many who have come out and helped with various parts from site preparation to installing the skirting.
It seems that any project that involves construction and trades has complications and  we have seen our fair share. The original delivery date was delayed and when they did bring the home up we were forced to park it at the Dauphin Air Port for a month while we waited for the ground to freeze.
With the ground frozen the home was then moved onto the pad, but with all the snow it was became slightly more complicated.
We were able to get the Hydro put in  and then the septic and well. As I write this we are waiting for the final water hook-up, but at least we have heat in right now and have been able to do some work inside.
This project has been completely paid for by your generosity and I know that this will be a great home for the camp and we are excited that we, the Bankert family, have the opportunity to live in it.
We will be planning a Drop in Coffee and Tea day where you can come, visit and see the home. I will let you know that date when we have everything hooked up.

This fall has seen a lot of changes and additions to DBC. One of the main improvements has been to the tubing hill. We have opened up the bottom landing area so that it is safer to slide, we have also added a shed to the top of the hill that will be used to store the tubes and everything else that is required. Check out the pictures below and if you want to be a part of this project please contact the camp. We are looking for both volunteers to help with hill development and financial supporters to continue making the DBC tubing hill a great place for both the community of Dauphin and the province of Manitoba!

The Dauphin Bible Camp is entering the Aviva Community Fund Contest and in order to be successful we need your help. The more votes that we can get the better we can rank. If we win then we can receive some funding with our dining hall project. Last year it was noted that our playground needed an upgrade and we are happy to announce that upgrade has been completed...for now. There will always be improvements in the future. If you know of any good playground additions that someone is getting rid of, that are in safe working order we would love to hear about them. The campers have already been putting the new play structure through its paces.

This past week of camp it was discovered that we had some cases of head lice. This newsletter is to encourage all parents who had children at our camp to check their campers heads for head lice to ensure quick treatment.

Summer camp, like schools, daycares, play groups, etc are a place where there is a greater chance of finding head lice. Head lice are common in school age children and not a sign of poor hygiene or any other disease.

Are you wondering how you are going to pay for your child's camp fee this summer?  Believe me, I have seen the camp fees rise over the years.  Of course I understand the real reasons why camp fees are going up, but its still tough on the wallet, isn't it?

I would like to introduce you to another option to knock off a little cost.  Here at Dauphin Bible Camp we strive to provide an honorarium for our kitchen helpers or head cooks.  We try to pay our helpers $100 and our head cooks, $200 for the week.  So you can choose to just put your honorarium towards your child's camp fee.  We are very short of help this year, so please contact us if you are interested in giving us a hand!  We do accept daily volunteers as well if you can't commit to a whole week, but want to come up and visit and work for the day!

Dear Friends of Dauphin Bible Camp,

Make sure to join us on the last Saturday of June, as year-round and summer missionaries with CSSM Ministries from across Canada will be joining together for a day of prayer and fasting for the upcoming summer of camp. It is pretty easy for us in camping ministry – especially at this time of year – to forget about the “important” in light of the “urgent” and setting aside a day to focus our hearts before God as the summer season begins is a great way to remind ourselves, once again, of what is truly important.

A big thanks to everyone who came and joined us at our spring open house. We had a ton of fun riding horses, playing games and hearing about the upcoming summer. We also saw a great offering that will help provide the week of a lifetime to so many children.

We were also able to welcome the new provincial director of CSSM Manitoba to DBC for the first time, at least to an open house, Bill, & his wife Bev, McCaskell.

We had a fantastic time at the Dauphin Kinsmen Trade Fair this past weekend and for the second year in a row we won the award for the best non-commercial display! We just wanted to thank everyone for coming out and visiting the booth. Make sure to come out to our Open House on June 13th for some free horse rides and activities.

Thanks to everyone who came out and had fun at the Extreme Family Fun Day in Dauphin. The Dauphin Bible Camp was able to set up a shooting gallery with Bazooka Ball guns and a putting green in celebration of this years golf camp.
